3/12 Appalachian Reckoning: A Region Responds to Hillbilly Elegy

This event is free and open to the public. Appalachian Reckoning is a retort, at turns rigorous, critical, angry, and hopeful, to the long shadow Hillbilly Elegy has cast over the region and its imagining. But it also moves beyond Hillbilly Elegy to allow Appalachians from varied backgrounds to tell their own diverse and complex stories through an imaginative blend of scholarship, prose, poetry, and photography.

This event is hosted by Union Ave Books and held at the Knoxville Museum of Art at 7pm on Tuesday, March 12th. It will feature a panelists of contributors from the collection including: Meredith McCarroll, Robert Gipe, Lou Murrey, Bob Hutton, Linda Parsons, and Jeremy Jones.

A cash bar and refreshments will be available. A specific selection of authors' previous works will be available for purchase in addition to the main title.
