ABOUT THE BOOK
With a phone call, Jo Wiley is drawn back into the circle of her family. Her mother is dying and even though there’s no love lost between them, Jo feels duty bound to return to the place she grew up and see her mother off into the next world.
Things aren’t quiet in Ljubljana for Leo, the local Witchfinder and the man Jo may have finally fallen for, while she’s gone. A haunting disturbs his friends and neighbors and Bettine, a member of the Board sworn to keep the supernatural hidden, announces a surprise visit to investigate the disturbances Jo and her circle of friends have caused in the last year.
Her mother’s last words leave Jo staggering. Returning home to Ljubljana, to Leo, Jo tries to regroup before Bettine brings the power of the Board to bear on them, but others from her past have their secrets, too. Secrets that endanger not just Jo, but everyone who lives behind the Veil. As her world unravels, Jo is left to wonder if there is anyone she can trust, even herself.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Victoria Raschke wrote her first short story at 10. Her mother said it was brilliant but pointed out she had written “cereal” instead of “serial.” She still can’t spell but did manage an M.A. in English from the University of Tennessee and a Culinary Arts degree from Nashville State Community College. Extensive travels in Eastern Europe led to spending a year in Slovenia, where her daydreams and the Voices of the Deadseries are set. Victoria lives in Knoxville with her cats and human family who really appreciate that culinary arts degree.
