Union Ave Books is honored to host an evening for local writer and illustrator Eleanor Scott and Adam Pernell Deal's recent illustrated book, KNOXVILLE MERMAID. This event will be Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 5:00pm.



DESCRIPTION


 

In this tall tale set in Knoxville, Tennessee, the freshwater mermaid winds her way through the city, always escaping capture until a flood lands her in the hands of a young boy. Knoxville Mermaid trains the eye to look for magic and mystery in the overgrown corridors of the city where wildlife survives. 



ABOUT THE AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR


 

 

Eleanor Scott and Adam Pernell Deal are a creative partnership and couple living in East Knoxville with their daughters.  Knoxville Mermaid is the first book published through their company Part Flamingo Press.  

 
Eleanor was a columnist for the weekly alternative newspapers Metro Pulse and the Knoxville Mercury. Her columns reported untold stories from the forgotten corners of Knoxville's urban landscape. She has a life-long love of books and reading, and has worked in rare and secondhand bookstores for 18 years.

Adam is a self-taught illustrator best known locally as the artist for the Knoxville Horror Film Fest. Most of his ink and watercolor illustrations feature mysterious, otherworldly creatures in surreal landscapes. He draws creative inspiration from vintage horror comics, family ghost stories, and things found in the woods.
