Union Ave Books will present the first event of a new series "Writers at Work" feat. Bren McClain and Caitlin Hamilton Summie. This event will delve into the nature of an author's experience "behind the scenes" as they work to share their thoughts from scribblings on a page, into bookform at your local bookstore and finally landing expectantly into your hands. Caitlin's experience both as a published author (To Lay to Rest Our Ghosts, 2017) and as the leader of a national publicity company (Caitlin Hamilton Marketing) has a grasp of the tools it takes both to craft a piece of writing but to also get it national recognition in the publishing world. Bren's award-winning publication of One Good Mama Bone (2017) has set her as a contemporary staple of southern writing. Encouraged by Mary Alice Monroe's praise-filled foreward to the novel, we will hear how this story about Mama Red has been long in the making and what brought it into the published form you see today.
Punch and hors d'oeuvres will be served!
