This book is mainly divided into three parts, namely introduction to the history of Chinese thought, classic Chinese thoughts, Chinese and foreign scholars’ English comments on Chinese ideology and culture. In the layout of topics like early classics, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism, the book presents the classics of each school in chapters and comes with English comments related to each school of thought. The book tries to build the historic connections between Chinese ancient classics and contemporary space and time, improve readers’ perception of the contemporary value of Chinese classical culture, which will be a great reference book for students, teachers, researchers and anyone who wants to learn about Chinese culture.

Zhang Ting is an associate professor at the School of English at Sichuan International Studies University. Her research interests include English and American literature, comparative literature, and translation studies. She is also the main participant of the Chongqing Major Higher Education Teaching Reform Research Project Exploration on Teaching Reform of the Experimental Class of “Chinese Culture Going Global.”
