Adolescence is a very important phase in the development pro cess as it is during this phase that the adolescent is virtually launched into the outside world. There is probably no more important a period in the life span of a human for the development of the self than adolescence. In the years between thirteen and the early twenties the adolescent gradually separates herself from their family both socially and emotionally as well as economically and mentally.
